A bit of a grind (free to play), 100% CPU utilization on every machine I have (even my i7 kills the netbook), and the log in/out on a single machine is irritating. We have enjoyed this but looking for something else. I have not played it in a couple years (hear they added Coop!) but the interface is too involved. I really like this game, especially the customization. Alas the games take a long time and a little more involved than I am looking for right now.įrozen Synapse. Played this in the 80s with my dad and had a blast. Some thoughts on other games that I have liked but don't quite meet what I am looking for. ship combatants, etc.) But all in all a really fun game. assigning a planets production to automatically move to a destination would be nice a "selected ship count" to let you know how many ships you have selected is much needed some nuances for depth like stars that "moved" (like planets), gravity, a different ratio of colonized combatants vs. But no multiplayer I hope the developer makes a sequal with multiplayer and cleans up the gameplay while keeping it simple (e.g. Very simple concept, well executed, and a lot of fun. Every star or halo captured = 1 ship produced / second. The map consists of multiple stars, some stars with halo(s). It will take 100 ships to neutralize a colony and 100 more to capture. When your ships run into (a) a planet they colonize which requires 100 to colonize (b) and enemy ship they fight in a 1-for-1 battle so the larger fleet always wins and (c) will attack the colonized ship units. You move ships by simply selecting (RTS style) the ships you want and point where you want them. You start with a fleet and the goal is to eliminate the opponent(s). Concept is simple and works well with a mouse OR touch. Alas it has no multiplayer.īut definitely in the vein of QUICK and SIMPLE. When I found, " Micro Wars" on the Windows Store I thought I had found something that met all the above. But I don't want something so "simple" the outcome is predetermined. Focused on the strategy aspect of the gameplay is ideal. I am looking for something that is relatively simple (i.e. Can be turned based on a single machine OR can run on slower hardware (Windows netbook). I don't care about graphics, story, music, etc. General criteria are semi-flexible so feel free to make a recommendation if you think it meets the spirit of what I want:

I am looking for a strategy game that I can play with my sons.
